FAQs
1. I just need
to change planes in Canada, do I need a Canada visitor visa?
No, in this case you would have to apply for a transit
visa. You will need one even if you are staying
for a short amount of time at the airport.
2. Will I have to pass any medical
exams to get a Canada visitor visa?
Yes. You will have to pass a medical
exam and a police clearance in order to be
issued a visa.
3. How long can I stay in Canada
with a visitor’s visa?
Generally, you are allowed to stay for up to six months.
However, this decision is solely up to the officer who
will handle your entry into Canada.
4. Will I
need an invitation letter to come into Canada?
Generally, if you know someone in Canada you should
have them make an invitation letter. However, you will
need additional documentation as well. If you do not
know anyone in Canada, you will have to present certain
documentation with your application.
5. With my Canada visitor’s visa
can I enter the United States?
No! Many people erroneously believe that a
Canadian visitor visa allows them to enter the US. In
order to enter the US you will either need a US Visa
or to be part of the US Visa Waiver Program. If you
want to get a US Visa in Canada, please click
